Duncan Weir will start at flyhalf in one of three changes to Scotland's starting lineup for Saturday's match against Ireland in Dublin.
Weir comes into the run-on XV in place of Glasgow Warriors teammate Finn Russell, who has been ruled out with concussion. Weir will partner scrumhalf Greig Laidlaw, who is set to break David Sole's record for most appearances as Scotland captain (25).
Elsewhere, Tim Swinson replaces the injured Jonny Gray at No 5 lock, while eighthman Josh Strauss drops to the bench to make way for Ryan Wilson at the back of the scrum.
Among the reserves, Rob Harley takes the vacant spot left by Swinson and scrumhalf Henry Pyrgos makes a welcome return to the match 23 after recovering from his wrist injury that required surgery.
