Griquas utility back Kyle Steyn could make his debut on the World Rugby Sevens Series circuit for Scotland at the upcoming Las Vegas tournament.
Steyn, who played Craven Week for the Lions and Varsity Cup for Maties before joining Griquas, qualifies for Scotland through his Scottish-born mother.
The 24-year-old will join Scotland’s training squad on Friday after he was called up by coach John Dalziel.
‘I still see my future in the fifteens game, but playing sevens now will be a good starting point,’ Steyn told Netwerk24.
Steyn, however, remains contracted to Griquas and is only available for sevens selection for the Las Vegas and Vancouver tournaments. He has to return to Kimberley before Griquas start their Rugby Challenge campaign.
