The Sharks believe the time is right to back the young scrumhalves in their squad after opting to release Louis Schreuder, who was looking for a long-term deal. CRAIG LEWIS reports.

It was confirmed this past weekend that Schreuder, who has been at the Sharks since 2017, would be ending his time in Durban after being released from his contract.

SARugbymag.co.za has learned that the 30-year-old was seeking a long-term deal, but with the Sharks unable to commit to that and looking to back their youth, the former captain will now part ways with the franchise.

In particular, this should present real opportunities for two talented former Junior Springbok scrumhalves, Jaden Hendrikse and Sanele Nohamba, with the latter already having been impressive during the start of Vodacom Super Rugby earlier this year.

Meanwhile, the Sharks also have Cameron Wright and Grant Williams available as further options at No 9.
