Scarlets No 8 Uzair Cassiem has been ruled out of action for up to four weeks with a calf injury.
The eight-cap Springbok suffered a leg injury in his team’s Pro14 warm-up against Bath last week.
Cassiem underwent scans on Tuesday which revealed that he injured his calf, ruling him out of Scarlets’ opening fixtures.
The 28-year-old joined the Welsh side from the Cheetahs and was set to make his tournament debut for the team in their opener against Ulster.
