St Stithians College has confirmed that its annual Easter Festival has been called off due to the continuing threat of Covid-19.
The event was scheduled to take place between 9 and 13 April, but the prestigious school confirmed on Thursday that the festival, the oldest of its kind in South Africa, has been scrapped due to the growing fears about the coronavirus pandemic.
The schools that would have participated at this year’s festival are St Stithians, Bishops, Grey High, Jim Fouche, King David Linksfield, Kingswood, Maritzburg College, Michaelhouse, Northcliff, Prince Edward (Harare), SACS and St Andrew’s (Grahamstown).
News of the cancellation of the St Stithians festival comes after it was confirmed that the Kearsney Festival, the North-South Festival and the World Schools Festival were also called off due to Covid-19.
Meanwhile, the 2020 Wildeklawer Festival was postponed indefinitely.
