Embattled Saru CEO Jurie Roux will no longer lead the search for the new Springbok coach.
Roux has been accused of making unauthorised payments totalling R35-million to Maties Rugby Club while he was a senior director of finance at Stellenbosch University and chairman of the rugby club.
Roux's initial task was to submit the names of suitable candidates for the Bok job to Saru's general council, but Saru president Oregan Hoskins will now drive the process according to Rapport.
The general council is set to confirm the appointment of the new Bok coach when they meet at the end of March.
Former Stormers coach Allister Coetzee, who's now in charge of the Kobe Kobelco Steelers in Japan, and Saru high-performance manager Rassie Erasmus are the favourites for the job.
According to Rapport, while Coetzee received an SMS from Saru asking if he was available for the Bok job, there has been no formal communication between the parties.
Saru may opt to appoint Erasmus as interim Bok coach for the three-Test series against Ireland in June.
