Crusaders coach Scott Robertson has offered Sanzaar some free advice in a bid to ensure the Vodacom Super Rugby season returns in some shape or form later in the year.

The Kiwi conference leaders returned home just before the 14-day isolation rule imposed by their government and while Robertson understands the decision to suspend the competition, he has called for competition to resume at a later date.

He hopes the game’s governing body do whatever it takes to re-install professional rugby as soon as possible.
‘Be creative. If it is local New Zealand derbies, origin matches over the next few months and then we play the leader of the other conference, or if things kickoff and the borders are relaxed in a month’s time and we have a shorter version,’ Robertson told Stuff.
‘Whatever the opportunity is, the leaders of Sanzaar have to make a good call on what they think is the right thing with all the broadcasters, sponsors and fans.’
The Crusaders will not be going on a break – with games against the Hurricanes, Highlanders and Blues frozen – but instead will return to the training field on Monday.
‘We were so looking forward to the next few weeks, these big derby matches are so important to us,’ he said.
‘The first thing the boys are saying, “what happens, do we get another opportunity to play Kiwi teams again?”.’
