Dawie Theron, Jimmy Stonehouse and Pieter Rossouw have confirmed the end of their coaching stints in the Japanese Top League.
Theron, a former Junior Boks coach, joined the Docomo Red Hurricanes in July 2016 on a three-year contract but he has informed his employers that he will not be available for a third year as he wishes to return to South Africa after the current season.
‘In the beginning, I was offered a three-year contract, but as a family we decided to make it a two-year project,’ Theron told Rapport newspaper.
‘I told my Japanese agent that I would not stay another year. It was confirmed earlier this week. After two years, it’s time for things to go back to normal. We miss South Africa and are looking forward to coming back.’
Stonehouse, who has been the head coach of Toshiba Brave Lupus since 2015, will also come back at the end of their campaign to rejoin the Pumas.
Meanwhile, Rossouw is set to resume his role as Paarl Gym’s director of rugby after he joined Stonehouse at Toshiba on a temporary basis in May.
