The South African Broadcasting Corporation has announced that the World Cup final will be broadcast on 11 of its radio stations.
The public broadcaster had confirmed earlier in the week that it reached an agreement with SuperSport’s parent company, MultiChoice, to broadcast the final between the Springboks and England on its SABC 2 TV channel.

On Wednesday, the SABC announced that, thanks to a lucrative sponsorship deal with the brewing company Heineken, they’ve been able to also secure the rights to broadcast the final on 11 radio stations to ensure the historic match reaches the broader South African public.
The radio stations broadcasting the final are: SG, Radio 2000, Ukhozi FM, Umhlobo Wenene FM, Thobela FM, Motsweding FM, Lesedi FM, Ikwekwezi FM, Ligwalagwala FM, Phalaphala FM and Munghana Lonene FM, with live updates on SAFM.
‘This partnership solidifies our continuous efforts to build and maintain mutually benefiting collaborations with various stakeholders in the interest of serving the South African public diligently,’ said SABC group chief executive officer Madoda Mxakwe.
‘We are pleased that Heineken came on board as a sponsor and partner in ensuring that our audiences enjoy the most-anticipated match of the Rugby World Cup on SABC radio and television platforms. The SABC looks forward to more fruitful partnerships, as we fulfil our public service mandate.’
