Former Stormers lock Quinn Roux will start for Ireland against Scotland at Murrayfield on Saturday.
Roux, who came off the bench against England last week to earn his ninth Test cap, replaces the injured Devin Toner.
In other changes to the pack, Jack Conan comes in for the injured CJ Stander at No 8, with openside flank Sean O’Brien taking the place of Josh van der Flier, who moves to the bench.
In the backline, centre Chris Farrell will make his first Six Nations start, while fullback Rob Kearney replaces Robbie Henshaw, who has fallen out of the match 23.
