The hearing into the financial mismanagement case against SA Rugby CEO Jurie Roux could only take place in 2019.
Roux is being sued by Stellenbosch University after he allegedly manipulated funds to favour the rugby programme during his time as the chairperson of the Maties Rugby Club.
This happened over a period of nine years when Roux had access to the university’s financial management system.
A preliminary report by KPMG revealed that he withheld R35-million of the university’s reserves from the university’s council.
According to Netwerk24, a pre-trial for the case, where the judge would determine whether the case is ready to be heard, was set to begin in the Western Cape High Court on 22 March.
However, the court roll appears to be fully booked for 2018, meaning that the case may only be heard in 2019 at the earliest.
Roux had his contract with SA Rugby extended by five years in August 2014.
