England have been dealt another injury blow after it was confirmed that flank Chris Robshaw will miss the November Tests due to a long-standing knee problem.
Robshaw is set to undergo corrective surgery on a recurring knee injury and is expected to be out of action for up to eight weeks.
The former England captain is the latest injury casualty to hit Eddie Jones’ squad after fellow loose forwards Billy Vunipola (broken arm) and Sam Simmonds (knee) and lock Joe Launchbury (knee) were also ruled out of the end-of-year Tests.
Adding to Jones’ back-row concerns is the uncertainty around Nathan Hughes, who faces a disciplinary hearing on Wednesday for punching an opponent.
The England squad for the upcoming Tests against the Springboks, All Blacks, Japan and Wallabies will be announced on Thursday.
