Robertson gets glowing endorsement for England top job

Clive Woodward has nominated Crusaders coach Scott Robertson as his first-choice candidate to replace Eddie Jones as England boss.

Jones has increasingly come under fire throughout England’s disastrous Six Nations campaign and it is believed that his job as head coach in now well and truly in jeopardy after his side finished fifth on the competition log, with only Italy performing worse than them.

The England RFU is currently conducting an investigation into the national team’s fifth-place finish in the tournament with the governing body’s CEO, Bill Sweeney, refusing to rule out a possible coaching change following the completion of the inquest into England’s struggles.

Chatting on the Martin Devlin radio show on NewstalkZB, Woodward, who led England to their lone World Cup win in 2003, said Robertson has all the credentials to take over as England boss should Jones get the sacked in the near future.

‘This man Robertson I do not know, however, crikey, I simply get a very good feeling about him,’ he stated.

‘Clearly, he is a winner, he is profitable, he is superb with folks. Would I prefer to play for him? Sure, without even figuring him out, simply from seeing the way in which his workforce performs.

‘That might be actually attention-grabbing on so many fronts.’
