Former Stormers loose forward Mike Rhodes says he would ‘jump at the chance’ to play for England once he qualifies in July.
Rhodes spent time with the Sharks, Lions and Stormers before making the move to Saracens in 2015, where he has enjoyed great success.
The 30-year-old is now close to completing his three-year residency qualification, and he told The Telegraph that it would certainly be an appealing prospect to play for his adopted country.
‘It’s not something I’ve really focused on. If it happened, it would be a dream come true, but if it doesn’t happen, so be it.
‘I’m not holding on to any hopes of playing for the Springboks, but I would definitely take the chance [of playing for England]. England are really hitting their straps, and it would be nice to test myself at the highest level. I would jump at the chance, for sure.’
