Brodie Retallick and Ngani Laumape have been ruled out of the All Blacks’ match against the Springboks in Wellington on Saturday.

Both players were hurt during the All Blacks’ 46-24 win against Argentina in Nelson, with Retallick injuring cartilage in the rotator cuff of his right shoulder after being tackled and Laumape damaging knee ligaments.

‘We know that Guzzler [Retallick] won’t be available next week, so we’re going to bring Patrick Tuipulotu in,’ said coach Steve Hansen. ‘It was either him or Luke Romano and Luke’s got a calf strain, so we didn’t consider him.

‘So Patrick will come in and Brodie will get scanned on Monday and then we’ll have a better idea how long he’ll be, but it could be a maximum six weeks. Hopefully that will be all. Minimum maybe three, so he’ll be out for a wee while.

‘Ngani’s got grade one ligament damage so he’ll be [out for] two to three weeks.’

Crotty and Cane suffered head knocks against the Wallabies in Sydney and sat out the Pumas match as an extra precaution, while Ioane has recovered from a hamstring injury.

Williams has been sidelined with a shoulder injury for the past three months.
