Cobus Reinach will be out of action for the rest of the year as the result of a serious knee injury.
The Sharks have confirmed that Reinach tore his anterior cruciate ligaments against the Highlanders on 22 April, and the scrumhalf is now set to undergo surgery.
Meanwhile, Jacques Potgieter is still five weeks away from returning as he continues his recovery from an ankle injury. No 8 Philip van der Walt and lock Ruan Botha face two to three more weeks on the sidelines due to a neck and ankle injury respectively.
Young flyhalf Inny-Christian Radebe has a meniscus tear to his knee and has been ruled out for four weeks, while Wandile Mjekevu is set for a further two-week absence due to bone bruising.
However, in at least some good news for the Sharks, Pat Lambie, Francois Kleinhans and Tera Mtembu are fully fit and available for selection.
