Former Sharks flyhalf Inny Radebe will captain the EP Elephants in Sunday’s clash with the Vodacom Bulls.
The 26-year-old arrived in the Eastern Cape for a short trial a few weeks ago, and impressed coach Peter de Villiers to such an extent that he has now been handed the leadership reins.
It has been a tumultuous couple of years for the former Sharks player, who found himself in the rugby wilderness after being released by the Durban side in 2018.
Towards the end of last year, Radebe trained with the Springbok Sevens team hoping he could prove his worth, but struggled to adapt to the high intensity of the team’s training.
However, he is enthusiastic about his chances of making his stay in the Eastern Cape permanent, and secured a place in De Villiers’ team for the start of the preparation matches.
