Pat Lambie scored 11 points as Racing stunned Montpellier 26-0 in Paris, while there were wins for Castres, La Rochelle and Agen in the French Top 14.
Montpellier, favourites to clinch the title this season, were reduced to onlookers by the visitors, who were in charge of the contest from start to finish.
Lambie was again at the centre of everything that went well for Racing. The teams remained deadlocked 30 minutes into the game, but Lambie read the play superbly and sent wing Albert Vulivuli through a gap for the opening try. The flyhalf then stepped up to slot the conversion before adding two penalties to give his side a 13-0 lead.
Racing added two unconverted tries in the second half and a third penalty from Lambie’s boot to wrap up a convincing victory.
In other results, Castres pipped a star-studded Toulon 20-19, Paul Jordaan scored one of six tries as La Rochelle smashed Pau 44-14, and Agen added to Stade Français’ misery with a 29-13 win over their more accomplished rivals.
Elsewhere, Brive held hosts Bordeaux to a 27-27 draw, while the match between Oyonnax and Pau also ended in a 32-32 stalemate.
