Queen's College held off the much-fancied festival hosts KES to win 17-12 on Saturday.
The much-anticipated clash produced some moments of brilliance from both sides. Queen's dominated the early proceedings and kept the pressure on the hosts throughout the match.
In other matches, Eldoraigne beat Hentie Cilliers 47-31, Graeme College remained unbeaten with a convincing 45-5 victory over Trinityhouse, and Rondebosch Boys' slumped to a surprise 20-14 defeat to Hoërskool Marlow from the Eastern Cape.
