Springbok flyhalf Handre Pollard has been ranked as one of the top 10 goal-kickers in world rugby at the moment.
Pollard arrives at No 6 in goalkickers.co.za’s ranking.
The website formulated an algorithm that takes into account a kicker’s success rate as well as the difficulty of the kick attempted.
Difficulty is established by taking into account factors like distance, angle, altitude, side of the field, score difference as a measure of pressure, venue and half. The website also cites that, based on past goal kick data, distance and angle carry by far the most weight.
Welsh duo Leigh Halfpenny and Dan Biggar are ranked first and second with Scotland’s Greig Laidlaw third, England’s Owen Farrell fourth and Argentina’s Nicholas Sanchez fifth.
Retired All Blacks star Dan Carter was down in 11th while Bernard Foley of Australia is rated at No 17.
New Zealand’s Richie Mo’unga comes in at 23. Mo’unga’s All Blacks teammate, Beauden Barrett, is dead last out of the 52 kickers ranked.
