John Plumtree is expected to step back from his role as Hurricanes head coach to join Ian Foster’s All Blacks management team.
According to the New Zealand Herald, negotiations between the Hurricanes and New Zealand Rugby are ongoing but an announcement is expected on Thursday afternoon.
Plumtree has completed one season as Hurricanes boss, in which he guided the team to second place in the New Zealand conference and fourth overall. He is expected to join the All Blacks’ ranks as forwards coach.
Plumtree’s primary assistant at the Hurricanes throughout the 2019 season, Jason Holland, is expected to be promoted to head coach. He will likely be assisted by Chris Gibbes, who has just joined the coaching staff after three successful seasons in charge of the Wellington Lions.
