Former Springbok JP Pietersen is back in training at the Sharks, and is set to make his comeback for the Durban-based side should he successfully complete all medical tests.
Last month, the World Cup-winner officially confirmed that he had ended his time with Toulon after three season with the French Top 14 side
Pietersen, who joined Toulon from the Leicester Tigers in 2017, has now returned to the Sharks, where his senior career started all the way back in 2015.
SA Rugby magazine understands that Pietersen will go through mandatory fitness testing, and is expected to be cleared to join the side if all goes according to plan.
The Sharks will kick off their Currie Cup campaign against the Griquas on 12 July.
