A round up of what some of South Africa’s leading Sunday papers are saying, including an update on the talks between the Vodacom Bulls and Jake White.

One of the major stories in Rapport has the latest update on Jake White’s potential appointment as the Bulls’ new director of rugby. According to the story, written by Hendrik Cronje, current Bulls coach Pote Human would not necessarily lose his job if White is appointed.

White reportedly rates Human as a coach and therefore Human would not be fired if White is appointed as Alan Zondagh’s successor. Talks between White and the Bulls began on Monday and while other names like Johan Ackermann and Johan van Graan have popped up as potential alternatives, nobody is as far in negotiations as White.

Meanwhile, Hacjivah Dayimani could make a return to the Blitzboks’ squad according to Rapport. Dayimani was part of the squad on loan from the Lions during the Dubai and Cape Town Sevens. However, an ankle injury prevented him from making his senior sevens debut in either tournament. After the teams return from Los Angeles, coach Neil Powell admitted that he wants to include the No 8 in the squad for the London and Paris tournaments.

Staying with the Sevens team and young star JC Pretorius says that while his focus is entirely on the Tokyo Olympics, he still has a dream of playing in the Currie Cup. Pretorius played for the Blue Bulls U21 team as a flank last year, but has not played for their senior team yet. He told Rapport that like any young South African, he still has dreams of playing in the country’s premier provincial tournament.
