A round up of what some of South Africa’s leading Sunday papers are saying, including an update on who Rassie Erasmus could leave out from the Springbok squad for the World Cup.

While the backpage story in Rapport focuses on the shocking news that Aphiwe Dyantyi tested positive for a banned substance, the newspaper has also provided an update on the Springboks’ 31-man squad for the World Cup. Bok coach Erasmus will name his squad tomorrow afternoon in Johannesburg and will have to cut one player from the current 32-man squad that has been training in Bloemfontein this week. Writer Hendrik Cronje has written that flank Rynhardt Elstadt could be the unlucky player to be left out. Elstadt has been touted as a potential backup to Pieter-Steph du Toit as both can alternate between lock and flank.

Staying with Rapport, the newspaper has reported that the Sharks will complete the signing of Cheetahs prop Ox Nche. According to the story written by Cronje, Nche is viewed as a potential successor to long-time Sharks loosehead Beast Mtawarira. Nche will be competing with Mzamo Majola and Juan Schoeman for the Sharks’ No 1 jersey next season.

In further transfer news in Rapport, Clermont have joined the Kings in the hunt for Springbok and Stormers hooker Bongi Mbonambi’s signature, the Sharks could sign a Blitzbok in the form of Werner Kok, while Western Province props Carlu Sadie and Wilco Louw are set for short-term loans to French clubs.
