Ireland flank Tommy O’Donnell is a doubtful starter for this Saturday’s Test against the Springboks in Dublin due to a shoulder injury.
O’Donnell picked up the injury in training on Monday, and is now awaiting the results of a scan to determine the severity of the injury.
With fellow loose-forwards Jack Conan and Dan Leavy already unavailable, it means Sean O’Brien, Peter O’Mahony and South African-born CJ Stander could all start in the back row.
Meanwhile, New Zealand-born centre Bundee Aki could be in line to make his Test debut for Ireland after qualifying on residency grounds.
