Hooker Scarra Ntubeni has been appointed as captain of the Western Province team to take on Narbonne in Millau on Saturday.
WP boss John Dobson has named a 24-man match-day squad for his team’s first of two pre-season warm-up games in France before they kick off their Currie Cup campaign against the Free State Cheetahs on 25 August.
Former SA Schools and Junior Springbok captains in Ernst van Rhyn and Salmaan Moerat will start in tandem in the second row. The WP bench includes Boks Dillyn Leyds and JJ Engelbrecht.
Dobson said his team are looking forward to testing themselves against the second-tier French team.
‘We are looking forward to this match as it will give us a good chance to see where we are at against a quality side,’ he said.
‘The preparations have gone well on and off the field, so we are hopeful that will translate into our performance on Saturday.’
