Northampton target Bok halfbacks

English Premiership club Northampton Saints are looking to sign Sharks and Bok duo Pat Lambie and Cobus Reinach after this year’s Super Rugby season.

According to Rapport newspaper, Saints’ interest in Reinach has been a matter of public record for some time now, but their sudden interest in securing the services of Lambie comes after unsuccessful attempts to find a suitable replacement for first-choice flyhalf JJ Hanrahan, who agreed a deal to join Munster in the off-season.

The club is reportedly prepared to break the bank to get the duo on their payroll, with the Sharks and SA Rugby confirming they are aware of Northampton’s intention to lure Lambie and Reinach abroad.

It is believed the Sharks won’t stand in the players’ way if they want to leave, but unlike Reinach, Lambie is contracted to SA Rugby and any negotiations with Northampton would have to be through the governing body.

Apart from Lambie and Reinach, it is believed that Boks Lood de Jager, Jan Serfontein, Siya Kolisi, Ruan Combrinck and Lwazi Mvovo are also being pursued by several other overseas clubs.
