George North will start at outside centre for Wales in Saturday’s match against the Springboks in Washington DC.
The 26-year-old, comfortably the most experienced member of the match-day 23, will form a midfield partnership with the Ospreys’ Owen Watkin.
North has only started at centre on three other occasions in his 77-Test career.
Former Wales U21 skipper Ellis Jenkins will captain Wales for the first time in just his seventh Test appearance.
Jenkins will pack down in the loose trio alongside Ross Moriarty and Seb Davies. While Nicky Smith, Elliot Dee and Dillon Lewis start in the front row with Cory Hill and the experienced Bradley Davies in the second row.
Meanwhile, Tomos Williams will make his Test debut, forming the halfback pairing with Gareth Anscombe.
Scarlets pair Steff Evans and Tom Prydie are named on the wings, with Prydie making his first international appearance since 2013. Hallam Amos starts at fullback.
