SA Rugby president Mark Alexander has rubbished reports that the 2021 British & Irish Lions tour could be impacted in any way by reports of a ‘Coronavirus World Cup’ proposal for next year.
An unofficial UK-based World Cup had apparently been proposed for 2021 with the Telegraph reporting the idea comes from former England RFU chief Francis Baron, and has already been submitted to World Rugby for consideration.
Yet, it’s worth bearing in mind that both the Olympics and British & Irish Lions series in South Africa are already set down for next year, with Alexander reiterating the ‘2021 Tour Agreement was cast in stone’.
