Springbok and Sharks wing Sbu Nkosi is strictly sticking to his fitness regime while also dabbling in the arts while at home during the lockdown.
Nkosi looked set to build on his excellent 2019 season as he had a bright start to the 2020 Vodacom Super Rugby season, scoring a game-changing try in the Sharks’ opening win over the Vodacom Bulls.
However, the 24-year-old suffered a hamstring injury which prevented him from taking part in his team’s tour to New Zealand and Australia. He managed to return for the Sharks’ wins over the Jaguares and Stormers before the season was suspended by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Now back at home, Nkosi is using the time to follow his personal fitness programme very closely, while also catching up with his circle of family and friends.
‘Basically, social media has played a vital role in connecting us with our families, friends and our coaches,’ he told the Springboks website. ‘We’ve been using various platforms to communicate depending on the need – there’s different stuff for meetings with coaches, and obviously for friends and family you will use WhatsApp, Instagram and so on.
‘I have a small home gym and fortunately I have a little patch of running space at home as well.
‘Also, I have been using the Wattbike frequently to try and stay as conditioned as I possibly can in this time. The training programme goes in hand with eating well and trying my best to stick to a good nutritional diet.’

Nkosi revealed his skill on the piano and although he does not own one at his home, he still using his artistic talents to help his brother.
‘My brother is a DJ and he is using this time to work on his music. So, I’m trying to help him out because I would like to think I have a little musical know-how myself.
‘This is a difficult time for humanity, but I am sure we will be okay in the end if we all do our part to flatten the curve of infections. I want to appeal to everyone to stay home so that we can stop the spread of the virus.’
