WPRFU president Theo Wakefield has dispelled rumours circulating on social media that Newlands has been sold.
Former WP and Stormers captain Corné Krige tweeted earlier on Friday that he’d heard the stadium had been sold for R100-million.
Rumour has it that @WPRugby sold Newlands stadium today for R100 million. Not sure if it is true but wouldnt surprise me. #disgrace #desperation

However, in a statement on Friday night, Wakefield made it clear that any suggestion that the stadium has been sold is false.
