New-look Lions XV to front Canes

Rory Best will captain the British & Irish Lions against the Hurricanes in Wellington on Tuesday.

Best also led the Lions against the Chiefs last week.

In an identical selection to the pack that faced the Chiefs, Best completes the front row with Joe Marler and Dan Cole. Iain Henderson and Courtney Lawes are on duty in the second row, while No 8 CJ Stander forms the back row with flanks Justin Tipuric and James Haskell.

In backline, Dan Biggar and Greig Laidlaw are the halfback pairing, Jonathan Joseph is teamed with Robbie Henshaw as the centres, and Jack Nowell starts at fullback with Tommy Seymour and George North on the wings.

‘We are obviously hugely disappointed with the result on Saturday, but it is important to regroup. We know there are a lot of players motivated to go out and get a result for the whole group,’ said coach Warren Gatland.

‘A few players put their hands up for selection from the Chiefs game and played their way into the Test team, so they know that there is another opportunity for them on Tuesday against the Super Rugby champions.’
