John Smit has paid tribute to Neels Liebel after learning that the former Springbok strength and conditioning coach had passed away.
The news of his untimely passing also drew a tribute from cricket franchise, the Titans, a team Liebel also served with as strength and conditioning coach in the past.
Liebel was one of the conditioning coaches during Peter de Villiers’ reign as Bok boss from 2008 to 2011, and his stint with South Africa coincided with Smit’s captaincy.
Smit paid tribute to the former coach, describing him as “a gentle, kind man”.
