Naka Drotské is set to spend Christmas Day and New Year’s Day in the Bloemfontein Mediclinic.
The former Springbok hooker was shot three times during an attempted robbery at his brother Tinus’ smallholding in Kameeldrift, outside of Pretoria, on the night of 29 November.
He was discharged from hospital after being operated on, but suffered a setback in his recovery and had to be readmitted to the ICU ward on 11 December.
Tinus told Netwerk24 that the wound on Naka’s arm had to be opened up again because of an infection and treated with a disinfectant.
The 47-year-old is still taking antibiotics and will need to go into theatre on 26 and 31 December to have the wound cleaned.
Tinus said that while Naka is in a stable condition, he was experiencing some discomfort and therefore still on a ventilator.
