Lwazi Mvovo is feeling quietly confident as he heads into his first World Cup, writes CRAIG LEWIS.

The winger produced an impressive performance in the Boks’ final Test before the World Cup, which included an outstanding solo try against Argentina in Buenos Aires.

Although JP Pietersen is expected to predominantly slot in on the right wing at the World Cup, with the Boks opening their campaign against Japan this Saturday, Mvovo is a more than capable alternative. He also offers plenty of value as an impact player.

‘As a team we’ve had a good few weeks of preparation and I think I played well against Argentina, so it’s good to be able to take that confidence forward,’ he commented on Monday.’ I’m just excited to be here and whenever I get a chance, I’ll just look to make the most of it.’

The Boks are sure to adopt a tactical, kicking game when the conditions require it at the World Cup, and Mvovo said the wingers were well aware of their responsibilities both in terms of chasing and receiving kicks.

‘We’re prepared for anything, our game plan suits us well, it’s a good mixture between running and kicking; so, I think we’ll be able to deliver on whatever is required on the day. I think we’re all excited about the game plan.’
