Arno Botha scored a hat-trick as Munster claimed a record 68-3 victory over the Kings in a one-sided PRO14 match in Cork on Friday night.
It was Munster’s biggest-ever PRO14 win as they put 10 tries past a pitiful Kings side, who were all over the place defensively and never really got going on attack either.
Robbie Kempson’s side were on the back foot from the start as fullback Andell Loubser was shown a yellow as early as the sixth minute.
The hosts wasted no time in punishing the Kings and once they got on top, they stayed there, with a dominant scrum aiding their backline.
Botha has proved more than an capable replacement for Munster’s first-choice No 8 and Irish international CJ Stander. He demonstrated that again at Irish Independent Park as he constantly crossed the gainline with a number of big carries.
The pick of his tries came as he navigated a wonderful running line in midfield, getting his first score just two minutes after Loubser had been binned.
Shane Daly added a brace of tries for Munster, while Jack O’Donoghue crossed in the 40th minute to all but wrap up the game and put the hosts 28-3 up at half time.
Munster – Tries: Arno Botha (3), Shane Daly (2), Calvin Nash, John O’Donohue, John Hodnett, Neil Cronin and Dan Goggin. Conversions: JJ Hanrahan (6), Ben Healy (3).
Kings – Penalty: Demetri Catrakilis.
