The Sharks will be without the services of Tendai Mtawarira for the rest of their tour after the prop returned to Durban with a knee injury.
Mtawarira suffered the injury in the first of the Sharks’ four overseas matches against the Waratahs, which they won 23-15.
The 33-year-old is suspected to have suffered an MCL injury, but will undergo further scans to determine the full extent in Durban.
It comes as a major blow for the Sharks, who will be without their most experienced player for their remaining tour matches against the Crusaders and Chiefs.
Young 21-year-old Khuta Mchunu has been flown in as a replacement.
