Springbok lock Franco Mostert is set to leave English Premiership side Gloucester to return to the Japanese Top League with Honda Heat.
Sunday newspaper Rapport reported that Mostert had signed a four-year deal with Honda Heat after the side targeted him as a replacement for Munster-bound lock RG Snyman.
It will be Mostert’s second stint in the Top League as he previously played for the Ricoh Black Rams between 2016 and 2018 while he was still contracted at the Lions.
The 2019 World Cup winner joined Gloucester after a protracted contract saga in 2018 and has since been their first choice in the No 5 jersey. He started nine of the team’s 13 Premiership fixtures before the season was suspended due to the the coronavirus pandemic.
