Wage issues have arisen at the EP Kings again, with some players and staff not receiving salaries.
Issues revolving around unpaid wages first surfaced in July when there were delays in salary payments, while Kings players were then believed to have gone on strike when similar problems arose in August.
After extensive meetings, overdue payments were made on the eve of the Kings’ clash against the Lions, but again, there seems to have been certain cashflow problems from September.
According to The Herald, certain players, coaching staff and administration personnel are said to have been affected, with the SA Rugby Players’ Association (Sarpa) once again urgently seeking clarity on the matter.
‘We have now placed the EP Kings on terms and have also requested transparency about their financial situation as this has a direct impact on the well-being of players at the union,’ Sarpa spokesman Nyaniso Sam told The Herald.
Kings players were said to have worn white armbands in last weekend’s match against the Bulls in a show of support to unpaid staff.
