Stade Français are willing to release Morné Steyn from his contract, according to reports in Midi Olympique.
Steyn has endured a year to forget, where he has fallen down the pecking order at both club and international levels.
Having seen both Pat Lambie and Handré Pollard move above him as the preferred flyhalf options in recent weeks, Steyn now appears to be surplus to requirements in France.
He has made just 15 appearances for the Parisian club since signing in October last year, with young Frenchman Jules Plisson the favoured choice at flyhalf. Stade Français are looking to offload him and his large salary just a year into his three-year contract.
It is understood that they would be willing to release him from his contract 'provided they are able to reach an agreement amicably'.
Midi Olympique added that an unnamed Top 14 club is already interested in signing the 30-year-old South African, who has been capped 60 times for the Springboks.
