Demetri Catrakilis scored 14 points as Jake White's Saffa-laden Montpellier beat the Newport Gwent Dragons 22-12 in their European Challenge Cup semi-final.
It is the first time the French club has reached a European final. They will face Harlequins, who advanced to their fourth Challenge Cup final after securing a 30-6 win over visiting Grenoble.
The Challenge Cup is Europe's secondary competition, with Saracens set to face Racing 92 or Leicester in the final of the elite Champions Cup.
Bok hooker Bismarck du Plessis scored Montpellier's only try of the semi-final when he was driven over by the forwards. Former Stormers flyhalf Demetri Catrakilis kicked the conversion and also slotted four penalties.
Other South Africans in the Montpellier starting lineup were midfielders Frans Steyn and Robert Ebersohn, No 8 Pierre Spies, lock Paul Willemse and prop Jannie du Plessis.
