Mjekevu to wing it for Kings

Published on May 25, 2016 | Leave a response

Wandile Mjekevu will start for the Kings in Friday's clash with the Jaguares in Port Elizabeth.

Mjekevu only joined the Kings this week after being loaned out by the Sharks, and will start on the left wing in place of Luzuko Vulindlu, who is out with a hamstring tear.

In other changes, Stefan Watermeyer, who has missed the last two matches due to a foot tendon strain, has been cleared and will occupy his usual berth at outside centre, with JP du Plessis moving on to the bench.

Up front, Edgar Marutlulle returns to start at hooker after missing the last game due to illness. He takes over from Martin Ferreira, who is out for the rest of the season with a dislocated rib.

Coach Deon Davids also rotated Schalk Oelofse and JC Astle at lock, with Astle coming up from the bench to start this week.

Kings – 15 Jurgen Visser, 14 Lukhanyo Am, 13 Stefan Watermeyer, 12 Shane Gates, 11 Wandile Mjekevu, 10 Louis Fouché, 9 Ntando Kebe, 8 Aidon Davis, 7 Thembelani Bholi, 6 Stefan Willemse, 5 JC Astle, 4 Steven Sykes (c), 3 Jacobie Adriaanse, 2 Edgar Marutlulle, 1 Schalk Ferreira.
Subs: 16 Martin Bezuidenhout, 17 Justin Ackerman, 18 Tom Botha, 19 Schalk Oelofse, 20 Jacques Engelbrecht, 21 Kevin Luiters, 22 Dewald Human, 23 JP du Plessis.
