John Mitchell has been handed a two-year extension to his contract as England’s defence coach.
In an exclusive article, The Telegraph revealed that the Rugby Football Union has extended Mitchell’s contract until 2021 as part of their coaching succession plan.
The 55-year-old Mitchell initially joined England on a deal that was set to run until the end of the 2019 World Cup.
According to the Telegraph, the new terms of his contract suggest Mitchell could be first in line to replace outgoing head coach Eddie Jones, who is set vacate his position in 2021.
