The Cheetahs have announced that scrumhalf Tian Meyer will captain the side during their 2019 Currie Cup campaign.
The 30-year-old Meyer was joint-captain – along with fellow scrumhalf Shaun Venter – of the Cheetahs in their recently concluded 2018-19 Pro14 campaign, but now Meyer will resume the captaincy on his own.
The Cheetahs also expressed their excitement at being able to field their strongest possible side in the Currie Cup because the local competition does not overlap with the Pro14 this year.
The Cheetahs kick off their Currie Cup campaign against the Vodacom Blue Bulls at Loftus on 19 July.
