Scotland coach Gregor Townsend has named hooker Stuart McInally to captain their 31-man squad for the upcoming World Cup in Japan.
McInally has been chosen ahead of scrumhalf Greig Laidlaw and flank John Barclay to lead the side.
There were also a number of surprise exclusions as Townsend whittled his squad down from 40 to 31.
Centres Huw Jones and Rory Hutchinson have both missed out, with Peter Horne and Chris Harris instead included as backup for Sam Johnson and Duncan Taylor.
South African-born loose forward Josh Strauss has also not made the cut, with Matt Fagerson and Magnus Bradbury also missing out.
Two South African-born props in WP Nel and Allan Dell have made the squad.
Adam Hastings will provide injury cover for star flyhalf Finn Russell.
Scotland are in Pool A with hosts Japan as well as Ireland, Samoa and Russia.
