The Stormers have made three changes for their Australasian tour opener against the Hurricanes in Wellington on Saturday.
Two of the three changes come in the pack, as Mbonambi rotates with Scarra Ntubeni, who is back on the bench after starting in the win against the Jaguares.
Meanwhile, Chris van Zyl replaces JD Schickerling and will form the second-row partnership with the fit Eben Etzebeth.
The only change to the backline sees Ruhan Nel come into the starting lineup in place of Dan du Plessis, who also drops to the bench.
