New Zealand legend Jonah Lomu’s ripped shorts from the 1996 Vodacom Super 12 final to be listed on auction for $500,000.
In this quirky development, the autographed pair of shorts can be acquired on auction this Sunday, with the purchase also set to make a sizeable contribution to charity.
The late All Blacks great scored one of six tries for the Blues in their 45-21 win over the Natal Sharks in the 1996 decider at Eden Park, and during the second half of that match had his shorts torn off by opposing flyhalf Henry Honiball.
Now, the man who paid just $4,800 to claim the famed shorts 24 years ago, is set to auction them on the Trade Me platform for more than 100 times that amount.
