Lions lash Kings

The Golden Lions scored nine tries to thrash the EP Kings 60-19 at Ellis Park on Saturday.

Flanker Jaco Kriel was outstanding for the Lions, scoring a hat-trick within 44 minutes.

Jaco van der Walt, in for the injured Marnitz Boshoff at flyhalf, was successful with six conversions and also kicked a penalty.

The Kings' cause wasn't helped when flank Thembelani Bholi was yellow-carded in the 22nd minute after repeated infringements at the breakdown from the visitors. The Lions scored two tries while he was off the field, and took a 25-7 lead into the break.

The second half was just as one-sided, as the Lions made it 10 log points from two Currie Cup matches.
