Lions squad boasts continuity

Published on November 24, 2015 | Leave a response

The Lions have unveiled a settled squad for the 2016 Vodacom Super Rugby season, with former Pumas fullback JW Bell the only uncapped newcomer.

The squad from the Lions' successful Currie Cup campaign has been retained en masse, with only Kwagga Smith contracted for national sevens duty.

Flanker Derick Minnie returns after a long injury lay-off, while winger Ruan Combrink and centre Harold Vorster have also been added to the Super Rugby group after missing some Currie Cup action due to injury.

Flyhalf Elton Jantjies, centre Lionel Mapoe, hooker Akker van der Merwe and loose forward Warrick Tecklenburg are all set to return from overseas duty.
