The Cheetahs have signed 23-year-old lock JP du Preez from the Lions to bolster their Pro14 squad.

Du Preez played some of his junior rugby at the Valke before making the move to the Lions in 2015, where he immediately slotted into their U19 squad.

However, the towering lock (he stands 2.09m tall) has had limited opportunities at senior level, and is now set to link up with the Cheetahs.
